Hulu is owned by NBC/Universal, News Corp,and Disney among others. So they don't have any problem showing copyrighted films. Some other streaming video or download sites like Jaman.com and ITunes also license the content on their sites. So when you pay to access it, they are paying the copyright owner. In the case of Hulu, it is free now, but some think it will be paid later. I think this is one example of the motion picture/TV industry trying to avoid what happened to the music industry by controlling the biggest online site.

I didnt even know that. I was thinking it was all public domain stuff. Hopefully I can find some more PD films with some research.
